Seeds for Change

Seed for Change is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders by empowering youth with the knowledge, skills, and resources to drive sustainable community impact. Through hands-on experiences in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and cooperative economics, we equip participants with the tools to foster food sovereignty, economic resilience, and social change. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and activate young changemakers to build stronger, more self-sufficient communities.

Seed for Change is an interactive leadership and entrepreneurship program aimed at equipping young people with the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to create sustainable change in their communities. Based on principles of cooperative economics, agriculture, and social enterprise, the program offers participants practical opportunities to engage in business development, community organizing, and food justice initiatives.

Seed for Change empowers young leaders to build the skills, confidence, and support systems needed to make a lasting impact in their communities. The program concludes with a capstone experience, where participants either launch or contribute to a community initiative. Over the course of the program, participants engage in:

  • Educational Workshops: Covering topics such as cooperative businesses, financial literacy, policy-making, and entrepreneurship.
  • Farm & Market Operations: Hands-on experience in urban agriculture, growing fresh produce, and managing sales at local farmer’s markets.
  • Community Engagement: Working alongside neighborhood leaders to market and promote the importance of food sovereignty and economic empowerment.
  • Field Experiences: Visiting successful co-ops and community-driven enterprises to learn best practices and network with industry leaders.
