Seeds for Change

Cultivating Diversity for a Sustainable Future…

The Seeds 4 Change Urban Farm is a transformative youth agriculture program dedicated to enhancing food production and security while fostering a rich tapestry of biodiversity, human diversity, and internal/spiritual growth. Targeting youth aged 14-17 from the community, we provide hands-on skills training and workforce development workshops, empowering the next generation to cultivate fresh produce and sustainable practices.

Our approach integrates diverse plant species into the urban landscape, expanding the variety of crops grown in our neighborhoods. By introducing pollinator-friendly plants and creating vibrant plant communities, we not only enhance food production but also establish vital habitats for local wildlife. This commitment to biodiversity enriches our ecosystem and promotes a deeper connection between individuals and the natural world.

At Seeds 4 Change, we believe that food security is intertwined with ecological health and community resilience. Through our programs, we nurture not only the soil but also the spirit, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among our youth as they contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. Join us in our mission to cultivate change, one seed at a time.

Seed 4 Change empowers young leaders to build the skills, confidence, and support systems needed to make a lasting impact in their communities. The program concludes with a capstone experience, where participants either launch or contribute to a community initiative. Over the course of the program, participants engage in:

  • Educational Workshops: Covering topics such as cooperative businesses, financial literacy, policy-making, and entrepreneurship.
  • Farm & Market Operations: Hands-on experience in urban agriculture, growing fresh produce, and managing sales at their farmers’ market stand.
  • Community Engagement: Working alongside neighborhood leaders to market and promote the importance of food sovereignty and economic empowerment.
  • Field Experiences: Visiting successful co-ops and community-driven enterprises to learn best practices and network with industry leaders.

Summer 2026 applications open in April 2026.
